this would be the year that the winter didnt come you skipped it up, went right to spring and the grapevines were entwined with your one true love he tied you up in silver strings and read you stories of kings and queens from long ago who sailed on ships and rode before the wind to a city 'cross the sea and all the people there to tell them 'further up and further in'
the captain and the navigator were sharing secrets in their chambers alright the scully boy found out their tricks he walked the plank at half past six alright
and cuz the snow never came all the green remained the same and all the children cursed the news cuz their sleds would remain unused
instead they made ships of paper and raced them down the creeks in their backyards they dreamt they were pirates and sailors with big tattoos and nasty scars
you father sent you maps of islands with detailed diagrams of the shorelines alright
this would be the year that the winter didnt come you passed it up, went straight to spring and the juniper grew up around your one true love he captured you with golden rings and sang you songs of kings and queens from long ago who rode on horses through the mountain pass to a city down below and all the people there to tell them that this breath would be their last

so heres the big scoop: i moved back to murfreesboro tn in february for anyone i havent told/ hasnt heard and im playing music in a band here and im taking some time off from school and im also a cook at applebees now. additionally, i think vcu has figured out i dont go there anymore and is going to be shutting down my email account there, so you can email me at cowardnm@yahoo.com
respond to these questions and/or prompts in complete sentences: nora j: im sorry i didnt get to see you before i moved back out here. are you still in richmond or have you moved or decided whats up? corey: i miss you and im pretty sure i havent seen you in a hot minute. we should arrange travelling and visiting this summer. becca: i have no idea where you are or what you are doing. i need details! and lots of them! and they need to be very. . .detailed. nic: come to TN. come to TN. come to TN. come to TN. ill seriously keep doing that til you do. aaron: ive seen you several times recently and that is a trend that needs to continue. and your beard is bitchin. chris: you are now married and you are also now halfway through your stint in the army. discuss. for bonus points: which one is better? ms. jessica hunt: hows asheville? is it... ASHY??? hahahaha. haha ahh ha ohh im good. i still wanna introduce you to my cousin (he lives there too) cuz i think youd like him. every single other person: iiiii love you and just because i havent addressed you here doesnt mean i havent been thinking of you.
late breaking news: i am currently wearing pink sweatpants with approximately five jillion creepy penguins on them. that is not an exact figure. do not quote me on that. but there are at least thirty or forty. and thats a lot of penguins to be hanging out on some sweatpants. pink sweatpants for that matter.

so i spent the last hour and a half reading all my old posts, dating as far back as the summer after junior year in high school. it was surreal. i cared so much then about things that i wouldnt think twice about now. and vice versa, of course. i really dont know how to describe this. mixed feelings of nostalgia, regret, pity, and maybe even a touch of contempt here and there. the nostalgia is the most prevalent. some of the poems and stories i posted are actually pretty good. i dont even remember writing most of them. im almost certain i couldnt write like that nowadays. makes me wish i had kept up with that more. so strange so strange. this whole thing certainly makes me want to call up some people i havent talked to for a long time (in person, at least).

On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first ten songs on the list (no matter how cheesy or embarrassing), and write down your favorite line of the song. Try to avoid putting the song title in the line. Then, have your friends comment and see if they know the songs.
YEAH, TRY AND NAME THESE SONGS! YOU CAN"T!!
1)Richard said, "Withdrawal in disgust is not the same as apathy"/ A smile like a cartoon, tooth for a tooth/ You said that irony was the shackles of youth.
2)My mothers cryin blood dust now/ My dad he quit his job today/ Well I guess he was fired but that's ok
3)facades and walls, they find me
4)At home he feels like a tourist/ He fills his head with culture
5)We tried to get something trivial/ Out of the way the other day/ And nothing happened/ You laughed and so did I
6)I can't be held accountable/ if you can't make up your mind.
7)serpentine, the tracks in flames/ longest path the devil laid/ led you straight aboard this rusty train
8)Start threading a needle/ Brush past the shuttle that slides through the cold room
9)Lemonade stands and memories/ Of innocence and purity/ And the noonday sun at ninety degrees/ The things I carry with me
10)if i could just breath it out/ i could always breathe back in/ i'll cut all your wires/ i never cared/ cut all your wires/ what can be there?
